I regularly welcome applications from researchers interested in joining the PhIQuS research group at Inria Saclay and École Polytechnique. Even when no specific position is advertised below, prospective permanent researchers, postdoctoral researchers, PhD students, master’s students, and visitors are welcome to contact me to discuss possible opportunities.
Permanent research positions
Inria and CNRS organize annual competitive recruitment campaigns for junior and senior permanent researchers, generally between January and March. Candidates normally apply with the support of a host research group. Anyone considering PhIQuS as a potential host should contact me well before the application deadline so that we can discuss the scientific fit and prepare the application.
Other permanent or long-term opportunities may occasionally become available during the year.
Postdoctoral and PhD positions
Projects may be available in the following areas:
– Quantum correlations, quantum nonlocality, and entanglement;
– Quantum networks and distributed quantum computing;
– Device-independent quantum information and cryptography;
– Fermionic information theory;
– Mathematical physics, including C*-algebras and noncommutative polynomial optimization;
– Quantum foundations;
– More broadly, quantum information theory.
The precise research topic can be adapted to the interests and expertise of the candidate.
Members of PhIQuS have opportunities to collaborate with researchers in the Paris area and internationally, including in:
– Quantum information and foundations: Nicolas Gisin, Omar Fawzi, Antonio Acín, David Gross, and others;
– Distributed computing: Jukka Suomela, François Le Gall, and members of the QNA consortium;
– Polynomial optimization and operator algebras: Victor Magron, Igor Klep, and others;
– The Inria quantum ecosystem: the Curiosity, Quacs, Cosmiq, and Quantic project teams.
If you are interested, please email me at marc-olivier.renou@inria.fr with a CV and a brief description of your research interests.
Master’s students
I regularly propose research projects for master’s students in quantum information theory and related areas. Please contact me if you are interested in completing a research internship with PhIQuS.
Application process
I receive many applications and may unfortunately not be able to reply to every message. Personalized applications that clearly explain the connection with our research are particularly appreciated.
As part of the recruitment process, I may contact previous supervisors or collaborators for references. I will inform candidates before doing so.
Candidates who receive an offer are encouraged to speak independently with current or former members of the group before making their decision.
